Do you...
about a new project
or challenge and
then lose the motivation?
If you answered "yes" to several of the above questions,
coaching could be just what you're looking for to inaugurate
change in your life.
A letter from Marie Hardiman Beach on coaching...
Every year more and more people seek out coaching because they want change of some sort. Let’s face it, life is getting more complex and no one person has all the answers, wisdom, objectivity, or time to master it all. Therefore, whether we like it or not, all of us can benefit from someone else’s wisdom, objectivity, support and ear to achieve our goals. Friends, family – as helpful as they sometimes can be – are too close to offer us an objective broader picture; often their own fears interfere, resulting in flawed advice. And, really, do you want to divulge everything to someone so close. I know I don’t. Therefore, I hired a coach. To hire one I had to struggle free out of my American-made trap, namely, the idea that we should be independent, stand on our own two feet. I call this the John Wayne school of “bring it on, I can handle this all by myself.” Only that concept died with John Wayne, and it’s not a reality reflected in general society. After all,
- sports figures get coached,
- cheerleaders get coached,
- soccer playing kids get coached,
- high-schoolers get SAT coaching,
- rock and movie stars have managers,
- CEO’s have Boards of Directors,
- companies hire management consultants,
- the affluent have financial planners, and
- boomers have physical trainers
Why not you? Do you think you’re worth it? But before you answer, read on.
Through my working with thousands of people, what I have learned is when left on our own, we tend to focus on our limitations, our weaknesses and the failures of the past. A coach helps you in striking down that inner critic, to grasp the reins and holler “whoa” before it recklessly gallops into full throttle throwing you off track before you reach the finish line.
A coach helps you realize you already HAVE THE ANSWERS inside you. We all do. Do we believe that? No, not usually. But your coach does. Acting as a constant, a confidante, a coach reminds you not only of your strengths, but your goals and passions while bringing those answers to the surface.
Trained by Mentor Coach, a member of the International Coach Federation, my coaching style upholds the “Positive Psychology” philosophy of internationally renowned psychologist Dr. Martin Seligman. While the old school of motivating people dwelled on lacks and weaknesses, Strategy Coaching, Inc. focuses on strengths. Doesn’t that make more sense?

Gratefully yours,
